Skat 2.0 is full-featured Skat software for those on a budget. This chapter describes the features of Skat 2.0 compared to Skat 1.0x and the shareware version. All of these features are also included in the all-new Skat 3.0 (see the previous chapter). You can order Skat 2.0 or Skat 3.0 using the order form contained with this demo program. Both programs are available in English or German. Be sure to specify on the order form which language you prefer.
A new, comprehensive tutorial for new players. The rules and strategy are explained with examples that everyone can understand.
Improvements:
• Extensive revision of the user interface. Your game will look better than ever.
• Better computer bidding (e.g., Null more often) and better strategy for Skat layaway by simulated players.
New Games:
• Pub Skat. Play to see who buys the next round of beer!
• "Bock" rounds raise the stakes.
• League and Championship play. Hold your own tournament with multiple simulated players in a variety of pairings. Win a pairing and see your name at the top of the winner's list, but be careful that losses don't put an early end to your evening!
• Network Games. Play with multiple players over a network. The computer handles all of the details including the scoring. (Network licenses separate.)
New Views:
• View the contents of the Skat after the hand has been played.
• An especially-small card representation custom made for small monitors.
• Your cards can now be displayed full size. They lie one over another as you would hold them in your hand. They can also be sorted various ways to suit your taste.
• New Card Sets with a variety of card patterns. (See Below)
New Options:
• Selectable Sounds! Hear your opponents bid and announce games, applaud when you win, or make comments about your play.
• Keyboard shortcuts are available for most functions. During play, the mouse becomes unnecessary.
• Select the base value of Grand, 20 or 24.
• Optional performance rating. Gain an extra 50 points for winning, but credit your opponents with 40 points, if you lose.
• End play after a set score is reached or a certain number of hands are played.
…and much more.
Card Sets A and B are also available. Each contains an additional 4 card types that can be selected by the user.
Registered users of Skat 1.0x can order Skat 3.0 at an attractive price. See the order form for details.
We wish you much fun with the game.
Sincerely,
Fa. Rasche
